Dry cleaning is a chemical filled process. It typically uses perchloroethylene which studies show could be a carcinogen. If you want to skip the dry cleaners and hand wash your silk and wool garments. Remember that even the gentle cycle of you’re washing machine can cause them to shrink because of agitation so hand washing is best.

Gently swirl your clothes in a sink of cool water. Don’t use any detergent with a pH above 10; it will destroy your clothes. After washing gently press the excess water from the fabric. You can hang dry silk clothes and for wool items lay them flat in the correct shape, they’ll dry back to normal.

Don’t forget to line dry your clothing so they have that sunny fresh feel! It’ll also help save you money on electricity.
